James Ball (cyclist)
James Ball (born 24 June 1991) is a Welsh Paralympic cyclist who competes in tandem races as an athlete with a visual impairment. A multiple world champion across the tandem sprint events, Ball's latest title came in 2021, further cementing his partnership alongside Lewis Stewart where they won silver in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Cycling career Welshman Ball started his sporting career as a swimmer, before moving to athletics. The visually-impaired athlete was in-line to earn selection in track and field for ParalympicsGB at London 2012, however suffered an injury which ended those aspirations. On his journey back to full fitness, Ball took part in turbo testing arranged by British Cycling, and his potential on a bike was discovered. James Ball (economist)
James Ball (15 July 1933 – 15 January 2018) was an English economist, a principal of the London Business School (LBS) in 1972–1984 and a leader in the field of econometric modelling. Work Ball was co-creator with Lawrence Klein of the Oxford Econometric Model, which led to an "explosion" of macroeconometric forecasting. He was a senior lecturer at Manchester University and Terry Burns was his research assistant. Other positions Ball joined the LBS in 1964 as a professor of economics after recruitment by Harold Rose, emeritus professor of finance. According to the LBS Professor of Management Practice in Accounting, Sir Andrew Likierman, Ball's presence as the "king of forecasting" there greatly changed the reputation of business schools in the UK in the 1970s. Jimmy Ball (born 1975 or 1976) is an English football coach who is the current manager of AFC Totton. Previously Ball had been employed with Forest Green Rovers as an under-18 team coach and interim manager of the first team. Playing career Ball was a youth player at Exeter City and Southampton during his father's managerial stints at the clubs. Ball later played senior football for BAT Sports. James Ball (born 1 December 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for AFC Wimbledon. Ball started his career at Bolton Wanderers. During his time at Bolton, he was loaned out to Conference North club Hyde United on a work experience loan at the start of the 2014–15 season. Following his release from Bolton in May 2015, Ball spent the following season at Northwich Victoria. He joined National League North club Stalybridge Celtic ahead of the 2016–17 season before signing for Stockport County a month later in September 2016. James Dyer Ball (波乃耶) (4 December 1847 in Canton, China – 22 February 1919 in London, England) was a Hong Kong scholar and author born in Canton. He is noted for works on Chinese culture and for contributing to the development of the system of Cantonese Romanisation. Early life Ball was the son of the Reverend Dyer Ball of Massachusetts, United States, and his much younger second wife, Scottish missionary Isabella Robertson. Apart from preaching, his father ran a dispensary and opened a school in Canton, Guangzhou. James Presley Ball, Sr. (1825 – May 4, 1904) was a prominent African-American photographer, abolitionist, and businessman. Biography Ball was born in Frederick County, Virginia, to William and Susan Ball in 1825. He learned daguerreotype photography from John B. Bailey of Boston, who like Ball was "a freeman of color." Ball opened a one-room daguerreotype studio in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1845. The business did not prosper, so Ball worked as an itinerant daguerreotypist, settling briefly in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, then in Richmond, Virginia in 1846 to develop a more successful studio near the State Capitol building. Biography Ball's program typically consists of him discussing various issues (especially current events, politics and history) with callers. Ball is frank and does not shy away from politically incorrect topics.
